Procedures for how a title is to be deleted or added to a core list must be explained here if you wish to maintain consistency in core collections throughout the library system.
Although “use” is certainly of interest when developing core collections, it is never the primary concern. This is an important distinguishing feature of core collection development work. Although the American Library Association, in its Guide for Written Collection Policy Statements, strongly recommends that the Pacific Northwest Conspectus approach to collection evaluation and description be used or at least be adapted for most written policy statements, this will not be useful when writing a core collection development policy.
